    Skyline
We’re still 20 or 30 miles away, but the expectation is building on the boat. As we were sailing yesterday we could see the New York skyline on the horizon. This is the first major stop for all the girls. Statue of Liberty, Museums, and of course the most important: the American Girl store. Marah has [...]...more

Thanks for Visiting!

A couple of years ago I thought it would be cool to go out sailing. Debi didn’t have the same affection for this idea that I had. As a matter of fact, I think that she said “when pigs fly!”

Last summer, while we were out in the boat, Marah asked if we could live on a boat. She had asked before and we both dreamed about it, but we could never convince Debi. This time I told her “Sure we can, just convince your mother.” Marah, in true Toews fashion, got home and went right to work on Debi, but she didn’t have very much luck. Over the next couple of days, Marah and I just wouldn’t let it go. We got Debi to start looking on web sites, forums and blogs. We started looking at boats that were for sale. Debi fought it some but that didn’t last very long. In the fall we went to a boat show, and I think she was hooked then.

Debi’s still scared of certain things: gales, swimming in the ocean, being away from land; in time those will pass. I hope they’ll pass because I’m scared of some things too: gales, money, and safety. But all fears aside; I don’t know when we’ll have another chance like this -so it’s time to go!
